When I am through painting for the day I soak my pallet in water before I clean off the used paint.
I am mesmerized by the way the colors swirl about each other prior to mixing and turning a blah grey/brown color.
These paintings are very different from my usual ones in that they are an experiment. The purpose of the experiment is to capture the colors in motion as they swirl about each other prior to fully blending.
In a way I suppose this series represents the way I currently view life, which is.. constantly in motion, unpredictable, and out of control. I used to feel that one could control the ultimate outcome of one's life by careful planning, watching the stock market and making smart choices.
The past few years in American and world economics have blown this theory to pieces.
I now see life through completely different eyes. The "rulers" of the world really don't have it figured out. The economy and the way the world operates is not reliable enough for one to rest faith. Life is an exciting piece of art. It is unpredictable, and out of control.
All one can really predict or control is the color one brings to the pallet.
